Junior Band

Congratulations to the Junior Band on an amazing performance at the month end assembly today.  Take a well deserved break and we will get back together the second Monday back in January.  See the schedule in the Calendar section.

ATTENTION JUNIOR BAND TIME CHANGE

The Junior Band will be performing at the assembly on Tuesday, December 17th at 9:15 AM not 11:30.  Sorry for any inconveniences that may cause. 

Junior Band

The Junior Band will be performing at the month end assembly on Tuesday, December 17th at 11:30.  Unfortunately, we are unable to perform at the Primary Concert this Thursday due to the numbers involved.  We will definitely have an evening performance in the spring.  

KDHS Concert

Senior Band members .. You were great tonight... I'm so pleased with your performance.  The concert was awesome!!... Take a well deserved break and we will get back to work in January for our Musicfest and Trills and Thrills competitions as well as our spring concert ...( Jazz band too!!). :)

Poinsettias

Don't forget the pointsettia pick up tomorrow from 2 pm until 6pm.  A sign stating what room the poinsettias can be picked up in will be posted in the school lobby.

Senior Band KDHS Concert

Our last rehearsal will be tomorrow morning (Tuesday, December 3rd).  We will have a dress rehearsal tomorrow night as well at Migration Hall.  Students are asked to be there by 6:45 PM. 
On Wednesday, December 4th students are asked to come in their proper concert attire and be at the school by 6:30 PM for tuning and last minute directions.  The performance will start at 7 PM.  Tickets can be purchased at the door.  Adults $6, students $4 and children 12 and under are free. Hope to see you there.

Grade 5H and 5M

Students will have a written quiz on Thursday on their first 5 notes ( names and what fingerings to use) and types of notes and rests.  (up to page 9)

A reminder to Senior Band members that poinsettia orders are due tomorrow, Wednesday, November 27th.

Proper Concert Attire

Just incase anyone is unsure, here is a list of proper concert attire for all bands

Senior and Jazz Band

Boys - white collared shirt, tie, black pants ( no jeans please), black socks and shoes

Girls - white shirt/blouse, black pants/ skirt ( no jeans please) black shoes.  

Junior Band 

Boys - white shirt, black pants ( no jeans please), black socks and shoes

Girls - white shirt/blouse, black pants/ skirt ( no jeans please) black shoes.  

Poinsettias

Poinsettia sales will continue for one more weekend.  All orders must be in by Wednesday, November 26th.

Senior Band

Our concert at KDHS is fast approaching.  We will be having a dress rehearsal in the music room (room 301) on Monday, November 25th from 7 until 8:30 PM.  Students are asked to bring their instruments home and bring them to the rehearsal.  Students should arrive by 6:50.  

Our second dress rehearsal will take place at Migration Hall on Tuesday, December 3rd from 7 until 8:30 PM.  Students are asked to be there again by 6:50 PM.  

The concert will be on Wednesday, December 4 th at 7 PM.  Students will be given a room number and time to be there next week.  Tickets will be sold at the door $6 for adults, $4 for students, 12 and under are free.  Portions of the ticket sales will help reduce the bus cost for our cedar point trip. 

Junior Band Members

Just a reminder that there will be no Junior Band on Monday, November 25th.  Rehearsals will take place again on December 2, 9 and 16.  We will be performing at the Character Counts Assembly on Tuesday, December 17th.  A reminder will be posted on the blog with a time for those of you that wish to come and see the band perform. 

Grade 6/7 P

There will be a playing test starting on Friday, November 15th.  Look in the Playing test section for the lines.

Jazz Band

Congratulations to all those who tried out for the Jazz Band.  The list has been posted on the Music room door and rehearsals will begin next Wednesday, November 13th.

Unfortunately, Jazz Band will not be starting yet so the rehearsals scheduled for the next two weeks are cancelled.  Students have been told that they will be notified when they will start.

1st Senior Band Rehearsal

This Tuesday, September 24 will be the first Senior Band rehearsal.  Students are asked to be set up and ready to play at 7:50.  I am usually at the school by 7:40.  Students please wait in the lobby until I arrive.  See you then.  It's going to be a great year!! :)

Instruments for the Summer

Students are able to sign out their instrument for the summer.  All I require is a note from home stating that the student wishes to sign out for the summer and a parent signature so that I know you are aware the instrument will be coming home. Thanks!

Junior Band

As our year comes to a close, I will be making pancakes for all the Junior Band members on Monday, June 24th.  I will supply everything they need, forks, knives, plates, syrup and of course... the PANCAKES!!.  Students may bring a drink if they wish.  This is a thanks to them from me for their hard work this year :) 

6S Picture Project

I have posted a copy of the Picture Project information in the assignment section.  A rubric for the assignment is also there.  Looking forward to hearing some of the music creations tomorrow.

Students will have a test on line 50a next week.  The focus will be playing the new pitch concert E natural correctly, rhythm, pitching and slurring.

7/8 A & F Jingle Assignment

Students in 7/8 A & F will begin their "Jingle" presentations tomorrow.  One class ahead of schedule.  Looking foward to hearing the students creations.

Congrats to the Senior Band

Congratulations to the Senior Band on their Excellent Standing at the Trills and Thrills Festival at Cedar Point on Friday, May 24th.  They did a fantastic job and everyone enjoyed their day at the park after the competition.

7/8 A & F Jingle Assignment

A copy of the Jingle assignment has been placed in the assignment section.  Projected due date of this project is the first week of June.

Senior Band Cedar Point Contract

A copy of the Cedar Point Trip Contract has been put in the Band section.  Please make sure that you and your child read and sign the contract together.  Please return the form, passport and/or birth certificate before next Wednesday, May 22.

Cedar Point - Senior Band

A contract will be sent home with the students over the next week and members will be given information about what to wear for the competition, what they need to bring with them and when passports/birth certificates are required.

Senior Band and Jazz Band May Calendar

The calendar for May has now been placed in the Senior and Jazz Band Section. 

We will be having our Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 22, just before we head to Cedar Point.  Junior Band members are asked to wear black pants/skirts (black shoes please) and a plain white shirt on the top.  All Senior Band members are asked to do the same except that the gentlemen are asked to wear a tie of their choice. 
Junior Band members are asked to be at the school for 6 PM on the night of the concert and Senior and Jazz members by 6:15 PM.  The concert should be complete by 7:30 PM at the latest.  Looking forward to seeing you there :)

5W Playing Test

Students will have a playing test on Thursday, April 24 on line 6. Focus will be on playing the correct notes, rhythm, articulation (slurs), dynamics and tone.  As this was not posted until this morning, only those who are ready will be required to play today.  All others will be expected to complete the test on Monday, April 28th.

Senior and Jazz Band Information

Hi everyone...The schedule for Senior and Jazz Band has been posted in the Senior and Jazz Band Folder.  The forms for the Cedar Point trip are also posted there.  Forms and money needs to be in by Friday, April 12/2013 so I have the appropriate numbers for the bus. 
Students are required to be at morning rehearsals to take part in the trip to Cedar Point.  If a student is unable to attend one of the rehearsals in the morning please send a note stating why they missed rehearsal.  Thanks for helping with this.
